Río Grande de Tárcoles. Fotografías tomadas durante el tour con Luis Campos. (Grande de Tárcoles River. The photographs were taken in the tour with Luis Campos.)
Nos indicó el guía, Luis Campos, que este lagarto, al cual sólo se observa la cabeza, podía medir unos 4.5 m.
(Luis Campos told us that this alligator, of which you can see his head, could be about 4.5 meters long, that is almost 15 feet.)
(Access road to Tárcoles Beach)
(Grande de Tárcoles River mouth. Unfortunately there is great pollution in this area. It seems that our taxes are not very well used and it is clear the lack of action from the politicians. The link is to a local newspaper article related to the river pollution.)
(The picture was taken in the Azul Beach mangrove. The bird came to the road border, were I had parked my vehicle.)
(These swallows have their nest in Luis Campos’s boat. Luis told us that on the boat he owned previously, he made a box so the swallows could have their nest. When he built the new boat, he moved the box and the swallows just moved to the new house. The swallows follow the boat during the tour, flying around it and when they get tired, the rest on their nest.)
(Playa Azul mangrove is near the mouth of the Grande de Tárcoles River and on the other bank is Guacalillo mangrove. The Scarlet Macaws live in Guacalillo mangrove, flying in the morning from the mangrove in search of food and returning by late afternoon.)
(Iguana taking a sun bath and balancing on a tree branch near the river bank.)
(Spectacular view of the mountains. Far away you can see the Manantial de Aguas Vivas waterfall.)
(The photographs were taken in the road to the Manantial de Aguas Vivas waterfalls. To reach the waterfall you have to drive past the Villa Lapas Hotel, follow the gravel road for about 5 kms, that is 3.1 miles. The walk to the waterfall is about 1 hour, due to the steep of the trail.)
